FRENCH ALPS

For thousands of ski-loving travelers, the French Alps is a wonderful and spectacular place to enjoy endless hours of wild and blood-pumping skiing. Of course if you are a novice at skiing, this may be too much to handle for you. So, let us look at some of the top ski resorts in the French Alps.

Oriceres

The first of these ski resorts we will look at is the high-altitude ski resort called Orcieres. Orcieres is located in the Champsaur valley of France and has a altitude of about 2725km – high enough for the risk-taking ski adventurers. The site is located near the Ercins National Park and the ski resort’s altitude gives skiers a grand view of the surrounding landscape.

Les Carroz Ski Resort

Just about 10kn from Orcieres, sits the ski resort called Serre Eyraud. Although tiny in size, compared to Orcieres, the ski resort sits high in the French Alps at an altitude of 1450m to 2060m, has seven courses and an area for no-cost skiing.

Grand Massif Area

For the smaller and younger skiers, there is the Les Carroz Ski Resort, also located in the French Alps. The skiing area consists of beginner’s slopes with two drag lifts and snow cannons that enhance the skiing experience for the kids.

Flaine

Les Carroz is one of the five ski resorts that make up the Grand Massif ski area, including the Flaine, Morillon, Samones and Sixt ski resorts. Of course, the other ski resorts are for the older and more experienced skiers, with over 2,500 meters of snowy slopes and obstacles that will keep them on point.

Espace Killy

For more skiing fun, the Espace Killy, another top French Alp resort, offers you more than 310 km of restricted and unrestricted skiing – which is the desired choice for true ski lovers and novices to ‘surf’ the slopes.

Espace Killy

The Espace Killy area offers you more than 300 km of restricted and unrestricted skiing - making it the perfect choice for skiers of all abilities. In addition to the high reputation this ski resort has, and the nearby ski resort, Tignes, is set to host the 2009 World Skiing Championships.

Tignes by Night

The Espace Killy has over 96 ski lifts that is capable of transporting over 149,425 skiers in an hours time. All this thanks to the new technology that the ski resort has put in place. So, if you are planning to take your skiing experience to the French Alps, you are welcomed to do so, since there are so many challenges that are waiting for you once you arrive. So come and be prepared to tackle the lovely, but rugged and untamed French Alps!
